Watching the "Trickies"

Nathan and Griffin have started a new tradition the past couple of nights. They go outside on our deck, apple juice in hand, and sit down in matching lawn chairs and just talk. I went out there the first night for a little bit, but the mosquitoes were eating me up and I soon realized that this was a good "bonding" time for father and son (and a nice time alone for mom!). Nathan says they talk about all kinds of things, but Griffin's favorite topic seems to be the "trickies", which Nathan finally figured out were the crickets. I think it is so sweet that Griff is old enough now to enjoy talks with his Dad. I am sure they will both have many more of these to look forward to in the future- most of them more serious- but for now, all that matters are the sounds of the "trickies".

What a special Daddy-Son time. I think remembering moments like the one you just blogged about are the best part of blogging. The everyday memories are often the ones so easily forgotten, and yet tend to be the most important.
